I watched it last night too, and it was amazing! I recorded it so I while watch it again later. It was really cool seeing one of my earliest favorite bands playing like that (even though I never really learned anything about them). Now I really hope I can go to the concert September 14.

I agree, Alex. I knew Flea was a huge fan but I'm sure some people were scratching their heads when he was picked to do this, but he did it perfectly. Ol' Papa Het had a tear in his eye when Flea was talking about Cliff. *r*

*? I think I answered this regarding the latest on the MetClub board a few posts ago -- Mastodon is considered a very strong possibility since they're opening for them in Europe right now.

Megadeth will NEVER happen.

Dave just issued this message but in true Dave Fashion no one knows what it means
“I have agreed to doing something last night that I am sure a lot of people are going to be very excited about, and something that I had hoped would one day lead to another one of the potential feuds going away for good, if not for a long while.

"I can't confirm the band or the dates yet, and I have to go get my youngster up for school. Rest assured, as soon as we are ready to announce it, you will be one of the first to know.”

Interesting. Of course, Dave often exaggerates before his announcements. When he was getting ready to announce his first Gigantosaur tour he acted like it was the second coming of Woodstock, so when it was actually announced it was kind of a letdown for me. :? The reference to a feud going away is interesting, though.

And yes, as mentioned, Megadeth did open for Met in the 90s.

Maybe its Slayer he was feuding with them for a while. I coudnt stand going to a Slayer show just to see Megadeth.

It was one date. In '93, Mustaine did a guest appearance on Diamond Head's new album -- Diamond Head was a big influence for Mustaine and for Metallica. Then on June 5, 1993, The Almighty, Diamond Head, Megadeth and Metallica played together at Milton Keynes Bowl in England as part of Metallica's "Nowhere Else to Roam" tour.

I just met Metallica's manager, Cliff Burnstein (he also manages Def Lep, the Chili Prppers and others). I'm in NY City for work and I was walking up 6th Avenue and I passed him. I called out to him and he turned around. I told him I was a big Met fan and he came over & shook my hand, then said he had to go. If you've ever seen pics of Cliff you know he's got crazy long hair and a long gray beard. It was probably an odd sight to people on the street - me in a suit talking to some guy in a camo shirt and jeans that looked like a homeless guy but is actually a multi-millionaire.

It was very cool, especially since no one else around knew who he was. Interestingly, I was on my way to a conference for my job, and at the conference I met President Bill Clinton! *r*

From Wikipedia

Kerry King

Mustaine has a long-standing feud with Slayer guitarist Kerry King. King had previously been a temporary member of Megadeth in 1984. Even though Mustaine tried to convince him to focus on Megadeth rather than the "lame spikes" and "eyeliner" with the "posers" in Slayer, Kerry refused to quit his main band. After a falling out during the 1991 "Clash of the Titans" tour, Kerry and Mustaine made public jabs at one another throughout the 1990s. Mustaine cited Slayer's poor record sales compared to Megadeth, and Kerry mentioned Mustaine's inability to get along with band members and tour with major acts. Mustaine tried to reach out to Kerry after the murder of Dimebag Darrell. King has said that he thinks Mustaine is a "butthead",has said that "everybody hates him",and that he is a "dictator". He also called David Ellefson a "great dude" and voiced his support for Ellefson's attempt to sue Mustaine in 2002, stating that he and Ellefson had "been friends for years." Mustaine, for his part, has stated that, in his opinion, "Kerry has a problem, because he hates everybody." In a recent 2007 interview in Metalhammer magazine, Mustaine states that he doesn't care anymore and wants to end his arguments, mainly with Metallica and Slayer. King stated in a 2007 issue of Revolver magazine that he is a "Mustaine fan", but that he doesn't "really care for the guy." Recently in GuitarWorld.com's Dear Guitar Hero, King stated that he "admires [Mustaine] to this day" as a guitarist, even though he considers Mustaine a "hypocrite" and an "asshole".

Tom Araya

Mustaine's feuds with King have sparked animosities between fans of Slayer and Megadeth, but the only other member of Slayer who seems to be involved in the feud with Mustaine is bassist/vocalist Tom Araya. Like the feud with King (although much smaller-scale), this feud mostly began at the "Clash of the Titans" tour when Mustaine told him that he liked it when Araya "sucked his dick." Araya proceeded to call him a "homo" onstage.

 Mustaine and King have both shown a propensity to act like children many times throughout the years....
