We're toying with the idea of coming down to San Bernardino for the 25th anniversary of that horrible day we would all rather forget. (or make it such that it never happened..)

It gives us an opportunity to show how we feel. And we can pay our respects and keep his memory alive (and show his family that he will stay alive in our hearts and minds forever)

Anything "extra"-special in the works for the 25th ?

After 5 years, Ozzy released Tribute.
After 10 years Ozzy releleased the footage on the Don't Blame Me video.
I wonder if HE'S got any plans for the 25th anniversary.

I thought they were going to release an official version of the Japanese Randy Tribute show and some of the After Hours show stuff on the 25 Anniversary. That's the only thing I've heard.

That's what Delores had said at one of the memorials the year it was released in Japan. She showed it at the memorial, and said an international release would follow once the time restrictions (with Sony Japan I believe) were met.

I'm going to do my best to be there next March.

I found the Japanese documentary disappointing. I'd love to see a new documentary that includes more varied input from people he knew or his contemporaries. Rudy didn't add much but I'd love to hear from Don Airey, Don Norman, comments from those who toured with him (like Mike Chapman or Lemmy). Maybe some visits to places from his life like Musonia, some of the early clubs, sadly, the crash site (who was it from this board that wrote such a great account of their visit there).

Hey, how about people from this board plan something cool to help celebrate Randy's life around that time somewhere in SoCal. I'm sure many people will be around then.

Kelle has mentioned that they (the family I assume) are planning "something special" for the 25th anniversary. I'm not sure what that is, or what it may be, but keep your fingers crossed and let's hope it comes to light.

Let’s hope they have cloned Randy, by using DNA from the Les Paul and his nail! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME! Hmmm, keep dreaming. :(

Man, I would have like to be there, someone bring a camcorder and record ALL of it!

Ya might want to check your calendar.... Monday is the 19th.

We've pretty much finalized our plans. We'll be leaving early Saturday and just about drive straight through (28 hour drive). After the memorial, we're moving along to LA for a visit to Mickey (I'm sure the kids will enjoy that one). It would indeed be nice if some of us RR.tk folks could get together. And it certainly would be nice to see something special happening that day.

I'm looking forward to seeing Delores again (we visited Musonia in 1991). She's such a nice lady.

Edit:fixed a type-o

Wow, I didn't hear anything about that. This is really good news. They have enough footage that they could put a nice DVD together.

My family is finally going to California, for a vacation, in 2007. I wish we could do it in March, but it probably won't be until June. We'll be staying with my aunt, and she says they are only 20 minutes from the cemetary. I'm looking forward to being able to pay my respects.

for those interested in finding out about bands playing ect on the march weekend i think you should direct your questions to little miss ozzy at the randy rhoads tribute foundation you can find her by going to my myspace page and looking her up on my friends list or clicking her banner in my comments section
http://www.myspace.com/kevinkyle46542
im sure she knows that there are quite a few of us from here going to be there in march so just ask her about it she really is quite nice.

hey those are NOT RR5's rr5's are made in japan and have pick gaurds and stuff the real jackson randy rhoads model has a host of differances ..usa custom shop built..2 volume 2 tone knobs no pickgaurd toggle switch up on the top fin not on the pick gaurd...ebony bound neck thru body and availible in any color of the rainbow as long as its white with black pinstripes...price for this uniqe 1 of 25 guitar 6995.99 american if you can still find one..this one is supposed to be a exact replica of randys although mike ripley and i took a real close look at her and found some not too subtle differances,...his is a closer replica , plays just as good if not better than jacksons and costs one hellofa lot less ot own :D

I don't know why they haven't bother putting out an official DVD release. How hard is it to do? It would be really killer if someone (ozzy, Delores, etc.) put out a nice big compilation. I've got the perfect get-together for the 25th anniversary. How about everyone comes over to my pad and we all get really drunk, watch Randy footage and listen to his music at the same time, eat ice cream and cry. Then we could have a sleep over! Yippeee guys!

I'm totally there if I can convince one of my parents do drive the 60 miles to San Bernardino on a Monday afternoon through rush-hour traffic.

I read somewhere on here that someone thought that Randy's amps would be on display at the memorial. Can't remember who, or what thread it was but I'm sorry to say that it's not planned at all.
The main point of interest on the 19th is that the documentary team will be there and will be interviewing anyonbe who wants to be interviewed for the film. :D
