I think I found some influence from these four lads here on Zakk...in the first song...reminded me of Zakks playing you will know what I mean when you hear it.

hehe! Some guy on the Zakk board a while ago put together a Little Richard mp3 with loads of 'woooohh's'. there was even a picture of Zakk's pedal board with a custom 'woooh' pedal.
So now we know where he got it from and how he does it.
The Beatles, Little Richard and a custom 'woooh' pedal.
Sorted.

Back when Live & Loud came out, I was totally into the R.R. tribute album. When I heard Zakk's pinch harmonic rendition of the Crazy Train intro, it just made me angry, lol.

Yeah, I know what you mean, it just doesn't have that vibe that makes Crazy Train so great. I was pretty disappointed when I first saw it.

I always loved the pinch harmonics from Zakk and Sykes!! I remember a lot of guys in local bands doing them here in NY just before Zakk got big with Ozzy and they all stopped shortly after hearing him!! I remember an article with Zakk about why he did them so much and it said that Ozzy told him to do that sqeel thing it will be your trademark!

The band "Trivium," plays a game called,"The Zakk Wylde Drinkin' Game," where every time Zakk "squeals," they take a shot. Two songs...and they're tanked!

He got the whole pinch harmonic thing from LaGrange by ZZ Top. He heard it and asked his guitar teacher about it the next day. So, he got it from Billy Gibbons

It is true that Ozzy told Zakk to use the pinch harmonic as a trademark. I remember reading that in an article years ago. My believe though was that Randy used them (very sparingly I might add) with Ozzy. To me they always reminded me of the sound a train's wheels make when it slams on the breaks. They are hard to due but Zakk cranks them out like no one else can.

Yeah I always heard that Ozzy told him to use them as his trademark, and I guess it could be true, because hearing his audition tapes, and hearing those camcorder videos of his old band before Ozzy, he didnt use pinches nearly the way he does with Ozzy/BLS.

I always assumed he'd heard them with Randy too, being the huge Ozzy fan that he was.

Holy crap lay off the pinch harmonics Zakk. Worse than Kirk Hammett's wah pedal. Mis-used and over used. Take a bath while you are at it Zakk...........
