Hello everyone,
My name is Alex and I am 15 years old. I've been playing for about 7-8 months now and I really love it. Randy Rhoads is my favorite metal guitarist and I would like to learn how to play like him. Anyway, I basically joined so that i could get advice from those guys who have posted their solos, and I would also like to post some of my own. Well, thats it I guess, hope to talk to you all later

If you have been playing for only 7-8 months, I'd highly recommend guitar lessons. In those lessons I would highly encourage you to learn to read sheet music. I belive that for beginners to excel at guitar that they need to be influenced by what other guitarists do and it's hard to learn guitar unless you have somebody to teach you. Do you ever play guitar with anyone that is good? If the answer is no then tell your folks that you wnat lessons and that you'll do whatever it takes ie... chores like cutting the grass, washing the cars etc... to get them. With the proper instruction you could be well on your way to playing the guitar well in a few more months. Without anyone showing you the ropes it very well could take you a few years to get even come close to what Randy was doing.

Thankyou for the advice Alan, but I have already taken lessons, but I recently quit because my teacher told me he couldn't really teach me anymore, and it's not like he didn't know what he was doing. Toward the end he didn't teach me much anyway. Not to sound egoed out or anything, but some hard critics and musicaly trained people have told me that I sound like I have been playing for 4-5 years, and I can do some Randy stuff too, like crazy train (solo included), not a big accomplishment i guess but still, haha. I think my greatest accomplishment to date is "Eruption" by Van Halen (duh)
Anyway thanks for the advice, I'm looking for a teacher so i can learn some more theory.

You know what? I think I might have come on a little too strong there.....
Don't get me wrong, I am by no means an egotistic hotshot who thinks he can outplay anyone, but sometimes i get really inspired, and Randy has given me this feeling more than anyone else so far. And i can play some recognizable tunes, you name it i can probably play it when it comes to zeppelin. So i just want to learn about his style, like scales and things, i dont know much about theory yet :( but I'll learn, in the meantime i dont want you guys to think im some wannbe loser, i just want to learn from the best.

Welcome Alex. No worries man. You like Randy and you want to be the best guitarist you can be. You are welcome here. We have some incredible players here (Des, Metal Matt, Jared) so you will be in good hands.
