For those who know, back in 1991 Rudy Sarzo and John Stix got together to put on some benefit concerts for the Randy scholarship fund that went on for a few years. Many famous musicians performed covers of Ozzy/Randy songs there. Delores presented the latest winners of the scholarship and they also performed (one played "Dee" and some others played an original quartet piece).

Anyway, here's the songs performed and the musicians who played on what songs.

*Note: I need to dig through the stuff and double-check on some of the missing musicians on the last 4 songs. *

Also performances mixed into the show, aside from the Randy covers and classical students, included:

"Mr. Scary"-George Lynch

"Burning"-Chris Impelliterri Band
"Since You've Been Gone"-Chris Impellitterri Band

2 songs by Bangalore Choir (w/David Reece and Curt Mitchell)

2 instrumentals by Tony MacAlpine band (off "Maximum Security")

"Tush" performed by Rob Rock, Tony MacAlpine, Rudy Sarzo, Tommy Aldridge, George Lynch, Dweezil Zappa, among others. (Note: This was the first and only performance with the band Driver fully intact, but with others involved, as Rudy notes)

Night Ranger (3-piece version with only Gillis, drummer Kelly Keagy and a bassist named Gary) did: "Heart Of Stone", "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" and another.

Electric Fence (Cover band featuring Paul Gilbert) did:
"Restless And Wild"-Accept
"Neon Knights/The Mob Rules"-Black Sabbath
"Heartbreak Hotel"-Elvis Presley
"You've Got Another Thing Coming"-Judas Priest
"Little Wing"-Jimi Hendrix

And here's comments from John Stix and Delores Rhoads from the stage during the show:

John Stix: "Some very special “thank you’s”. This night happened because of a phone call that I got several months ago. Rudy Sarzo called up and he told me that wherever he goes, people ask him about Randy and he felt that he wanted to celebrate the life and music of Randy Rhoads this 10th year of the Ozzy tour. So Rudy Sarzo started the engine, his wife Rebecca Sarzo spent hundreds and hundreds of hours coordinating all of the musicians and the club. A young lady named Stephanie has also spent hundreds of hours to make sure everything went smoothly. And lastly, from Guitar For The Practicing Musician, Josh W worked day and night to make this thing happen. Please give it up for them a little bit.”

John Stix: “We’re gonna go right ahead with somebody who I think is perhaps the most special of all the special guest stars that we have here tonight. I was one of the very few privileged journalists to know Randy, as both a friend and a interviewer, and I would say that perhaps the strongest center for Randy- outside of the amount of time that he spent actually working on his music-was his love of his family and support that he got from his mother. And now, it is my privilege to introduce to you…Delores Rhoads.”

Delores Rhoads: “Thank you. Thank you so much. It’s just a great show. Thank you Rudy Sarzo. Rudy talked to me off and on for several years, “How do I get a scholarship for Randy?” Now it finally came off and he’s really doing this. Well, I want to thank Rudy and his beautiful wife, Becky. I know they worked very hard. And I wanted to thank so much, John Stix and Josh and all the others at Guitar Player magazine. I know they worked hard too. And I want to thank you fans. Not only you who are here, but the many, many fans in all parts of the world that love and are so faithful to Randy’s memory.”

“Now we are going to hear a different thing. I think that many of you know that Randy was very interested in classical guitar. Three years ago, I arranged to give a scholarship to UCLA-an endowment scholarship for classical students. Now it took a year for the interest to accrue and that is the important part because this will go on forever and that’s what we want. We want Randy’s name to go on forever. Thank you all. I love you and God bless you.”

Well, I didn't dream it up or transcribe the comments and events out of the blue.  ](*,) But to answer the question without being silly, or apparently not being clear enough, there is audio only.

The audio will be posted...eventually. I am posting everything in my collection..this included  It will take a good long while though. This show is very, very long and is still in cassette tape form. That will make Enchangy very, very happy  I will eventually post it in mp3 and FLAC since I have to do this one from scratch.

Thanks to Iron for taking on this monumental job =D>

Like Cableguy said, it is VERY long and still in cassette form (with no means available by me to convert). He will eventually convert and post it, so give him a big "thanks" in advance. It was hard enough to go through, identify who played on what songs, identify the non-Randy stuff and transcribe the text. I leave the rest to the experts in the convert/edit/post field. :D *r*

WOW, that is an incredible show. Glad to hear it is still preserved in cassette form.

Some great players.

Note the last song DoaM with Russ Parrish. He is the guitar player from the "Atomicpunks" (VH tribute band) & Metal Skool. If you live in SOCAL you know what I'm talking about, they rock.

I knew he had been in Fight with Rob Halford in 93-94 (caught em twice) and later War And Peace with Jeff Pilson, but I didn't know he had been in the Atomic Punks.I was only aware of the first guy, Bart walsh, who later toured with David Lee Roth. Cool.

Thanks dude Very Cool :D how amazing is it to read all of the musicians that came that day to pay tribute. I find it so unbelievable that so many talented artists were inspired by Randy.

I'd be happy to do it for you! All of it! I have the equipment set up here! (and will gladly return the tape to you afterwards too!)

Honestly, last I heard was they had stopped doing them after a few years, cause they became more of a showcase for alternative new talent than a tribute to Randy. Haven't heard anything about another. :? As for who gets to play, they don't have open-mike for just anybody to play a Randy tune. They were using established recording musicians, guys/gals in the bussiness. If it is held in a club, you'd have to be 21 or over just to get in, unless they made it an all-age show with no alcohol or the old underage wristband deal.

 Yeah, I remember there was an article about this benefit and Rudy sarzo interview in some Metal Attack magazine back in the day, there was a little picture of Randy playing PDV within article, it was interesting interview with Rudy, unfortunately I´ve lost my copy of the mag long ago...

Well, I have something nice that will be posted soon that will fill that void. I did a few things at the same time I did this benefit post that all tie in to it, I just wanted to space stuff out as oppossed to unleashing it all at once and overloading everybody. 8)
