I dug up all the pictures I had of that 1981 "day in the yellow shirt" photo session and rehearsal shots. These shots were taken by Jeffery Mayer. I think there's a few more I have to dig out, but for now.....

Thanks Iron! :)

It looks like Randy is playing a different Les Paul in those pics. I originally thought it was a trick of the lighting, but upon closer examination I see that it actually is a different guitar. Perhaps borrowed?

According to Bob Daisley, the band was originally called the Blizzard Of Oz as opposed to it just being Ozzy and his band.

yeah, thats what I meant. I have always heard that when the band was formed it was a given that the name would be "The Blizzard of Ozz" but when the album was released it had Ozzy Osbourne in big bold letters and underneath it said blizzard of ozz , suggesting that that was the album title

Yep, not only during Bob's early days in the band, but into the 1981 US tour as well. It's printed up as "Blizzard Of Ozz" on tickets at various venues, in newspaper articles and in Randy's first little article in Circus magazine in later 81.

That Paul is def interesting. Yellow looking top with nat sides and I assume back as well. Its something I havent quite seen before. Ive always wondered about that guitar when I saw those pics too.

Randy was having a bad hair day. :D

Too bad Rudy couldn't work his magic on him before the photo session.

Yeah, Randy is playing a les paul custom in natural. THa back and sides are dark becuase the mahogany is dark. Great les paul. Guitar center has a few 1968 reissue natural les pauls in stock they are great looking.

Yeah, In addition to the odd colorings, notice this guitar has a completely different strap on it too (unless it's on backwards) as his LP was always with the snakeskin strap. Also the cover around the toggle switch is definitely black as oppossed to the lighter one on his.
