thanks guys!!
well in honour of my 25th anniversary of seeing mr rhoads for the last time i did a quickie mr crowley inbetween students today. i missed a few things, but all in all its a pretty good representation of it.. one of our board members, mj patrick was walking into the studio as it was playing back so he got to hear it first and he said it was ok, so here it is:

Kevin is being too modest here! The truth is I was pretty much in awe. It was pretty cool being the first person to hear it. The tone is spot on and there's a lot of expression in the parts being played.

For those that don't know, I have been taking lessons from Kevin for just four weeks now, and even in that small amount of time my playing has already become significantly better. I am *not* a beginner, I had played for years and taken lessons from 2 other instructors, but wanted some new direction.

My playing is already becoming much tighter and what Kevin has me doing is gearing the fingers up for speed. I'm already happier with my playing but I know even better things are just around the corner.

If I am somehow making this all sound like it's easy.. LOL, no, it's still something you have to work at. But when you have a good teacher it makes all the difference. I would definitely recommend Kevin to anyone seeking lessons!

thank you all for the kind words and mj patric i'll have your money for you when you come to lessons *LOL*LOL* naa i am very happy to show anybody anything but i wish i had randy's feeling ,not to mention phrasing,i just wish i could play like that but once i get on a desending run its like i dont know where to put the landing gear down and stop!!! but thats why i say i tried to do it justice. there are parts that i play better every day than i did right there like the 2 finger asending chord run after the triplets in the second solo i'll hit that all day every day but i had to screw it up there and well like i said i was inbetween students so i had one shot at it..actually 2 shots, the first was a level check and the second is what you got there. infact during the organ the slide was there for a level and then the whammy dive pull-up wes the final level check..then one two showtime..ok now the guitar was the jackal running thru a rp100 thru a first year vintage 5150 combo and using 2 4x12 cabs with eletrovoice zw speakers...oh yea there is cort's (now mine) bbe sonic maximizer also. thanks cort that thing smokes bigtime. and thats it for equipment..i programed the rp-100 myself as i do all my digitech stuff (i love their pedals but i find the manafature presets lacking) :D i am workin the bugs outta otm as we speak and i got a pretty good fha ready to go too i try to get er done this week..thanks again guys i wish i was better but this is what i got for now

Well I think Randy was such a great musican because of his single mindedness and the way he didn't yearn to be anybody but himself.

I enjoyed yourt playing for your own sound in it's own right.

Hey Kevin I know exactly what you mean about hitting that dyad lick after the triplets.. I did the same thing basically, but I did the whole thing in one take and I felt I did it justice even though there is chiken scratch in there I could see me wiping that track and then never getting a half-way decent one the rest of the day.. LOL (know what I mean) I think you did great for a live once over man.. and Yeah Randy's phrasing and emotional connection to his playing is almost overwhelming!

Excellent playing, amazing tone. I thought I got pretty close but jeez. Ive got a Boss GT-5, which gives any tone under the sun, and you can create any tone under the sun, and a Marshall head. This has inspired me to go back and play around with the FX processor for 2 hours... :D

Hi Kev

I saw this moved so moved my comment too :D

Superb playing Kev! It was great to see you live in action and your technique up close like that. That lovely big tone too comes out just like on the audios!

I have a feeling when payday is next i may have to get a camera and join you and the vereran Mr Coneman and do some recordings on video.

Cheers

Matt

Hey Kevin, I just watched the Crazy Train vid and I think it is SWEET!!! The new PDV looks perfect in your hands!! Like you've had it for years already.. The more clips of you I hear with that 5150 tone the more I becom obsessivly compulsive about getting one at any cost.. LOL Thanks for posting a vid of you playing the new guitar.. It looked like you were really relaxed with your playing style on it therefore you were more free with everything and it turned out great!

thanks mike it is just the best playing v type guitar i ever had period..i reset it up again today and dropped the action another full turn and a half no buzzz at all neck is perfect the ebony is the bomb for brightness..it has 5 coats of clear on it so it shines like no other..my pdv is uniqe in that mike will never build another exactly like it he told me so himself..he antiqued the dots with a little yellow in the white so it looks old..he told me "I'll NEVER do that again !!!what a pain in the behind" cuz on the touch up he had to match it exactly and he was having fits. so now mine is unique..
ok matt...i dont know who he is i got it from freeBT.com its idont know with vocal....sounds good though :D
