great job playing! I also have to say, that your videos are the most entertaining I've seen with all of the camera angle changes. I'd like to see you give the Tonight solos a shot.

Thanks, I appreciate. Well, Tonight's solos certainly are a great choice that definitely reveals a great taste ! It happens I recorded the outro this summer, and finally found a little time to shoot it. Here we go. Hope you'll enjoy...

That's Awesome Man! *r* I wasn't even checking the board, I was just surfing Youtube and I saw it and knew instantly by your camera angles. That's really good stuff man. I hope someday to play that. Your tab is different than what I've seen in books, what book is it from?

Well, all Randy's material I learnt basically come from some "Ozzy Osbourne Songbook" that gathers tabs for both Blizzard and Diary albums. I believe this book is not published anymore, but one can still find it second-hand. Not to be confused with some more recent publication with the same name.

These tabs were all written by Wolf Marshall. My brother bought this book in the mid-80s while on vacation in the States. At that time, I don't think it was common to find accurate tabs. Anyway, if Randy is God (obviously), then Wolf Marshall is an angel. His publication helped me so much at that time...

About Tonight, I had to refresh my memory of the "burst" parts (0:48, 1:06) on the net (my brother's got the book). About Crowley, I came up with some parts on my own or inspired by others. There is some Jake's stuff in the first solo, and the bridge as a coda is Randy's.

Gata,
I really like your version of Mr Crowley. It reminds me of the first time I heard it, but I don't know why. It sounds fresh for some reason. Nice job.

My guess is it's because I did not record it "live" and added some overdub (a new experience for me).

Hi there,

I thought I had to do something with regards to my childhood's time guitar hero... Ace Frehley. I do not play a lot of Kiss material, and I am really not interested in there post-Frehley era. As a kid, I was fascinated by the Dynasty/Unmasked album (yes, I know...). Growing older, my preferences go to their very first albums and Alive! I had to do this one:

Let Me Go, Rock'n'Roll - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzloOd_zsv0

Technically and stylistically speaking, I can't see much in common between Randy and Ace. I can only mention that both came up with a style of their own, and both showed a huge feeling. OK, next post, I'll get back to Randy's.

Cheers,
Pat

Post subject:  Errr... sounds better in stereo, doesn't it ?

Good evening,

I may not be too quick... I just discovered that one could get the stereo soundtrack of a video on youtube (provided it was uploaded as such) instead of the basic mono remix. That makes a clear difference the clips I posted there, when there is some overdub parted between the left and right channels. One just has to append the &fmt=18 tag to the URL.

In the clips, I added a "Click here for stereo" annotation to get the stereo track. Also, I edited the original topic (at the top) with all the links to point to the stereo version.

It does not make me play better :?, but it does help with the rendition... :D

Post subject:  Over the Mountain

Good evening,

After a few weeks working on and off on the video editing, I have finally published my cover of "Over the Mountain". Obviously, I had to trick the part with the vibrato bar as my guitar does not come with one (and I don't intend to get one). I hope you'll find it OK anyway:

Post subject:  Van Halen's Panama

Dear all,

This year, summertime was not very convenient for my practicing the guitar, with so many things to do outside the house. Well, I greatly enjoyed getting back to the guitar to work and record VH's Panama. To me, this is a powerful song that carries sweet memories. I was 14 when the album came out, and had not started playing long before.

Post subject:  Ever heard of Trust ?

Good evening,

I wanted to share a memory of my youth. In the early 80s, a band called "Trust" was on top of the French hard rock scene. Although their success was mostly domestic, they somehow made a name for themselves abroad, opening for bands like AC/DC and Iron Maiden. Anthrax also made a cover: "Antisocial". I remember how fascinated I was by Nono's guitar sound on "L'Elite". Les Paul and wah. That was about the time I started playing the guitar. Today, I'd like to present you my cover of this song.

Pat
