Jeez dude. On your ZW Les Paul the saddles on your bridge are really far back. I'm suprised you don't snap strings by the bucket load, your intonation may be screwy too.

Intonation is totally screwy. I gotta set-up intonation on the Jackson too but I cant be bothered cause it is a pain in the ass on a Floyd.

Should I bring down the size on those btw?

I have the Epiphone zakk wylde (with an 81 and 85 in it) and I break the high e string proble about 4 times every month. I don't know what the deal is.

I've got a Jackson RR3 Randy Rhoads (Crimson Swirl). Hey Des, where did you get the white V and the polka dot V from and what type of amp head and cabinets do you have (I know It is a Marshall).

When you restring your les paul, you should try feeding the strings as if they are going to the bottom of the guitar then pull em over the top of the stopbar. IN other words feed them through the opposite way. This creates less tension on your strings therefore allowing them to go longer w/out breaking. 8)

Is it usually breaking at the nut , saddle or stop piece? You really wanna get a magnifying glass and exame each for lil rough spots called "burrs" ... then take some fine sandpaper and smooth out any burrs or edges you might find.

Bear in mind that the high E is the string that will break more then any other , especially since it gets alot of abuse from bends and overuse.

But 4 every month? sounds like another issue at play , again , check for rough spots at the bridge. hope you have some luck fixing this! :!:

I know I'm not Des but if it's alright I will answer this for him.

He got the white V from a member on the boards named Jackal, the Polka Dot from GMW Guitar Works, and the head is a JCM 800 and Im not sure about the cabinets. Did I get all right Des?

How bout aswell as pics we all explain our setups too? Coz I for one am still experimenting all the time and I'm sure we could all pic up tips from each other.

I don't have any pics of my gear other than those on my webpage http://homepage.ntlworld.com/evansboys/gear.htm

My setup is guitar > TU-2 tuner > Keeley mod'd MT-2 (set with the distortion about 1-2 O'clock and the EQ more or less on the recomended settings for metal) > MXR 10-band EQ (currently set to give a huge bottom end) > NS-2 noise gate > clean channel of AVT100 combo.

I've been fiddling with turning the distortion down on the MT and going through the overdrive channel of me amp today which sounds pretty good too but I'm trying to find something that will sound as good with the master volume turned up high for live.
