Before I go searching Ebay and whatnot to buy this book, I was wondering, from anybody that has it, if the song "Diary of a Madman" has the orchestration notated out in addition to the traditional guitar, bass, drum tabs.

I'm wanting to do a proper cover of the song and can easily figure out all the other parts, but it's hard for me to hear ALL of the orchestra pieces.

Anyone have any info on this?

well if you are just looking for the diary song, randy himself demonstrated i believe all of the guitar riffs in the guitar world legends issue. its all in tab format.

but not the orchestra part..and i doubt that its in any tab book.

Thanks for the reply. The guitar parts are super simple though. I was just hoping for some orchestration to be able to make the song as good as I possibly can when I record it. Even though probably nobody will ever hear it, my OCD makes me want to cover ALL the bases!

All the bandscores I've seen for Diary, put the orchestra under synthesizer usually. I've never seen (from Japan, Korea, or US) any DOAM band score with the actual orchestra parts broken down. But, if you do find that, I'm sure we'd all be interested in seeing it. Good Luck!

How are you with your DOM cover ?

I am also interested in such a bandscore, if any was available. I did try a cover too. It includes a track for the strings parts (but with a flute sample): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60LDrFZD5JE.

It does not sound bad but I would really enjoy some improvement...

Hey G!
Pretty nice but slow down a bit - you're off to the races (or had a bit much caffeine!) - musta took some time to get that all together! Nice.

Hey Gata,

Unfortunately some complications from the pancreatitis I had last year came up in March and has pretty much stopped me dead in the water for now in regards to trying to cover DOAM. Hopefully one day soon I can get to work on it. I haven't really been able to play guitar since then...and that's tough after 22 years!

I DID however get a look at the Japanese bandscore and it's pretty much useless. I guess totally by ear will be the way to go.

One good thing about the remaster is being able to hear a few parts better now and then.

Hi Tux,

Wow. Tough thing you're going through. Really sorry about it.

I started playing the guitar when I was about 13, which was about 25 years ago. I stopped playing for a while (babies at home) and finally came back to it (kids enjoy daddy's playing). I had a taste of what it's like leaving the Les Paul in its case... :(

Take care.
