Any idea what he was playing at the soundcheck? it sounds like some kind of scale workout. I couldn't find anything with the search feature. I always wondered what Randy might have first played for Ozzy at his audition and after listening to this, I think it must have been just as impressive. I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Everett (jckmdcn)

I think it just came from the heart, you know.He was very good at playing what he felt.

To me it always seemed like a fragment of the live Suicide Solution solo or at least something in the same vein...

I think he was just horsing around trying to get his tone and monitors all set for the show.. I don't think he was doing anything "speciific" or working on anything.. just warm-up stuff.

It seems like it was off the cuff, but the reason I ask is because (reasoning for posting in tabs) there are a lot really good guitar players on this forum and I was hoping that someone would break it down. I woud definitely say it's impressive and I would love to play it myself. Randy may have been messing around, but since no new material is available to play, I think this qualifies as "official".

Yeah, a couple of signature licks and some improv.

FINALLY! someone stepped up to the plate. I emailed this guy, Dave Arazmo, at American Rock School and he sent this video response to my email asking for a transcrition of the Texas Soundcheck, which to me is the only un-transcribed new material for Randy. Enjoy.
