floyd rose, the tremelo system. no idea on band or album. I do know he owned a 57 strat and he was playing hendrix stuff and dive bombs didnt work too well. Also Eddie Van Halen used it at the time of Eruption. that's why he was able to do it. back then dive bombs were unheard of.

Try this one:
World-famous guitar accessory inventor who revolutionized guitars in the 80's was in a mid-80's metal band from Seattle.
1. Name the guy.
2. Name his band.
3. Name the two albums he played on.

And this:
Aside from Tony Iommi, name 3 guitarists that have lost parts of their fingers and continued their playing careers. (and this isn't counting Django Rheinhardt)

Floyd Rose is the correct answer to the first part. Congrats! :D

The band he was in was called Q5 (you may have heard of them in the 80's on some underground metal stations). The two albums he played on were "Steal The Light" and "When The Mirror Cracks".

As for the other question, besides Tony Iommi, 3 other guys that suffered some finger loss and kept on playing were:

Graham Oliver of Saxon
Kevin Heybourne (of early 80's NWOBHM band Angelwitch)
Rocky George of Suicidal Tendencies

That was the only guy I could think of and I couldn't get any of your other questions as I am 15 and I do not have knowledge of things that happened 20 to 30 years before I was born  ,but I try

 I've only asked 2 questions and none have been before 1980. You knowing about Jerry Garcia is way older. Plus you asked the 70's questions w/ Zepp, Nugent and Kiss. So you do know a little bit of "ancient history".

That was the term for the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal that was coming out of England in the late 70's and early 80's. That tag got stuck on bands like early Maiden, early Def Leppard, Diamond Head, Saxon, Raven, Tygers Of Pan Tang, etc. Even though most of the bands had different styles/sounds from each other they still got that tag.

T-Rex did it originally in the 70's. Power Station remade it in the 80's.

Ok here's a question your NOT going to get.

On Dire Strait's hit "Money for nothing",who sang the opening lyrics,"I want my MTV...",sang backup to Mark Knopfler for the rest of the song, and co-wrote the song with Knopfler?

Did you say I'm NOT going to get this one? While it's not my cup of tea and this is basically a hard rock/heavy metal trivia thing I'm doing, I'll lean outside the box just for this one...the answer is Sting from The Police. :P

EDIT: FYI-I hadn't seen Jeepman's answer, I knew it anyway.

Hey, no throwing answers in there on me! (knew it anyway again. )

But to answer your question, that would be Kirk Hammett, now of Metallica. He left Exodus just prior to their first LP, "Bonded By Blood", but some songs he co-wrote like "Die By His Hand" he took guitar parts and used on "Creeping Death" as well as a tune called "Impaler" that he used parts for on "Trapped Under Ice".
