You're an idiot.

Back to what the thread is supposed to be about now....

From what I have read Kiss is going back into the studio to make a new cd. Its supposed to be back to their 70's roots I guess. More than likely paul will try to say its Destroyer II or whatever. That and Ace is hopefully going to release his CD soon (will be better than a new Kiss cd) and should hopefully be released in the spring (like past springs when it was supposed to come out)

That's what they said about:

The Elder
Creatures of the Night
Hot in the Shade
Revenge
Carnival of Souls
Psycho Circus...

Destroyer is always hailed as their best for some reason. I liked LOVE GUN. A under rated track on there for me was "almost human" i dig that song.

Destroyer was good. I liked flaming youth but just thought great expectations was a very odd song. didn't really dig it at all.

As for the Elder. It had some odd songs but man you have to love "escape from the island" "dark light" and "The oath". Those songs just flat out rock.

I too like Love Gun. I heard Plaster Caster on the radio a few days ago, and forgot how great of a song it was. IT was one of the last great kiss albums before there decline. As for the Elder, the most underrated album in there catolog. I love that album, though I didnt at first. 'The Oath' is a great metal riff, and 'Only You' and 'Under the Rose' are great tunes

If there is a single album that is KISS'worst.Id have to say anamalize, asylum, and perhaps even lick it up.

Lick it up had some good tunes but I'm really not quite sure just didnt like the bulk of the album

I agree with you about that. LIU was there best non makeup 80's album. Exciter, All Hells Breaking Loose, Young and Wasted are great rock tunes. As for the others that you had mentioned....Kiss trying to fit in with what was in at the time (didnt really work to well for them dont ya think  , that and I dont really care about that era of the band anyways)

Oh Rick, quit being so sarcastic! CN isnt that bad of an album. I know its Kiss in full blown 80's mode, but there are a few good songs. Some of Genes best 80's material is on there (we both know that he had terrible songs on the previous albums). Speaking of Gene, im listening to his 78' solo album now. Great stuff. I love See You Tonite...beautiful song

Derek, are you serious?!?!?!? I think CN has some of Gene's weakest 80s stuff. :?

I might like "Thief" if he hadn't given it to Wendy O Williams three years before for her to record on her solo album, then he got lazy and slapped it on "Crazy Nights," too, so he wouldn't have to come up with another song of his own!!!

Being a big Kiss fan myself I think that "Lick It Up", "Animalize", "Asylum" and "Creatures Of The Night" walked all over all 4 solo albums, "Unmasked", "Dynasty" and "Music From The Elder" I know there is a love afair with the original lineup and that's cool and I loved alot of it too but there was alot of filler back then too imo and the band started losing it's spark years before Ace left. I like Ace and he played some great stuff but he wasn't the biggest part of Kiss, just a great ingredient. Hell, he only wrote for about 13 songs on the first 9 studio albums (by choice or because Gene and Paul blocked him, I don't recall). I think between 82 and 85 Kiss got hungry again and rocked harder with some great songs than they had since "Alive II". Didn't like "Crazy Nights" much or "Hot In The Shade" when they catered to the radio and MTV a bit too much (though each had a few pretty good ones mixed in) but "Revenge" and "Carnival Of Souls" were pretty damn good and heavy imo. "Psycho Circus" was okay, not great imo.

I have to respectfully agree with Iron, even though I'm not a fan of much 80's KISS. That said, Unmasked has "she's so european" on it, and I think that says enough  . Its got to be the weakest of the originals I believe. I think its where what was once bad ass rock n' roll had completely made the transition to a lunch box and an action figure. No offense to those that like it I just wish they would have kept their edge.

Here's the latest on a new studio album:

KISS To Enter Studio Next Week
www.blabbermouth.net
Feb. 26, 2009

KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley was a guest on the "Happy Hour" show this afternoon (Thursday, February 26) on the Fox Business network. During the segment, which can be viewed below, Stanley confirmed to that he, Gene Simmons and the rest of KISS will enter the studio next week to grind out a new record for release this fall. "It's a KISS album in the most true and classic sense — we're recording it in analog, not digital, and writing it ourselves," Stanley recently said.

Are they even capable or writting there own material? I mean they have been dependent on outsiders helping them write songs for a while now, and one has to ask will the material be up to par. Im thinking prolly not. I can take them very seriously since they've been wearing makeup 10 years too long

I did find it interesting that Stanley made the comment that they're writing it themselves. With most bands, that would be understood, but Stanley felt the need to actually say it. :?

Saw another recent interview with Stanley this week in which he claims the new CD is along the lines of vintage KISS and may even be better than some of the vintage stuff. :-s We'll see. Should be released in September.

This is one of those things where you have to hear it to believe it. I dont really believe alot of that him or Gene say anymore. Paul should just persue his art career and Gene should just go make business deals. Those seem to be better for them rather than Kiss into the ground, though its about as far into the ground as it can get

....and your reasoning is? Curious as to why you disagree.

Ive been listening to Kiss for 22 years now (24 yrs old), and Kiss now isnt the Kiss I knew when I was growing up. I think alot of longtime Kiss fans would agree with me in the fact that they should habe either: A) Called it quites for good after the "Farewell Tour" or B)After the Farewell Tour, taken off the make up and go make an album that was similar to Revenge (with Bruce and Eric).

Instead of those two scenarios, we get Tommy playing my idol growing up (Ace), as well as getting endoresment deals with Ace's design, and we get Eric Singer as Peter. Its turing into a joke. Gene and Paul seriously do seem more interesting in there other activities (the ones that I stated above), and dont care about the band. They are willing to slap the Kiss name onto anything and everything that they can to keep the band relevant....case in point is the Cherry Dr. Pepper commercial. This is a time where we have seen everything from condoms to caskets to toothbrushes. Theres a point where you need to stop and neither of them (or maybe one of them) needs to just say enough is enough and just let it go.

They no longer have the fanbase here they once had 10 years ago. They proved a big success in Europe this past spring and summer selling out arenas, but that is not going to be the case here. Just look at last year when they were playing at casino's or having to co-headline just to get tix sales. Its pretty bad to be a longtime kiss fan since im pretty sure that alot of the fans no probably dont even know that Ace or Peter were even in the band and think that Tommy and Eric were the guys from back when...then again that is just me.

i only read the first sentence of your post above so im going to tell you my reason.

i would rather here a new kiss album then gene doing buisness sales and paul doing art. It is KISS we are talking about. and whether the album sucks or not it is still better than gene doing buisness sales and paul selling art.

Yes, Demon, but Derek's point is that this is not KISS anymore -- it's a farce of a band these days cashing in on the glory years and putting scab replacements in the makeup of two original members in order to keep the money rolling in.

As Derek said, a lot of longtime fans wished they had retired rather than sullying the band's name like they've been doing for the last near-decade now. +)

 @ your use of the word scab. I couldnt have used a better work myself.

Demon, I can see where you are cominng from with what you are saying. The thing is you cant honestly believe that Gene and Paul actually still love putting on makeup and playing music? Its all for paycheck now and it has been. Like I had said, they seem far more interested in their non music activites and would rather see them do that than squeeze every penny out of the Kiss name. Thats hard to say because they keep just doing that, so its better that they stop being 60+ yr old guys in makeup and do what makes them happy (which is there other activities).

I for one dont think I will be able to take this new album seriously. To say that it will be better than some of the vintage stuff is outrageous. You cannot touch Destroyer on terms of the quality of music and production. That album is flawless.

:? I don't think you've heard that many Kiss solos. But seriously, the "solo" in that is just a short harmonized line and barely a solo and while memorable in the context of the song I don't think Ace put too much into it.

I remember reading somewhere that Ezrin was the one who came up with that solo, but I may have misread :?:

If you want to talk solos, I would have to say Makin' Love or Strange ways
