Video of ex-Anthrax singer Joey Belladonna singing a karaoke version of Journey's Don't Stop Beliving at the 2009 Spooky Empire VIP party. He sounded fantastic! He could totally pull off being in Steve Perry's old position if he wanted to. 8)

I like the guy they've got now from the Phillipines that they found on YouTube -- Arnel Pineda  I think he actually does an even better Steve Perry than Joey does:

Yeah, hes got a pretty good voice. I saw them perform on Oprah last month I believe. Neil Schon can still tear it up

Neil is totally cool in my book. 8) When Journey was split up and he was playing with Bad English around '89-'90 they played at the college I was attending and I did concert security for the venue. Got to hang out with him and Jon Cain backstage before the show, ate dinner with him and the rest of the crew, and he let me play one of his vintage sunburst Les Pauls during sound check. *r* A totally cool, down-to-earth guy. *yay*

Joey does Journey really well. You should hear him do Ask The Lonely and Still They Ride. Once of the nicest humans you'll ever meet too.

Joey used to sing Journey and Rush covers in his pre-Anthrax band Bible Black in upstate New York in 83-84. Matter of fact when Carl Canedy (The Rods drummer) suggested him to Anthrax, Joey sang some Journey and other AOR music at the audition to show his range initially. The band was looking for a guy who could sing more than scream and the Journey range showed them that and he got the job. Interesting seeing him going back to his roots in that video.

Just thought I'd tie this in with Randy (Six Degrees of Randy Rhoads?)... Quiet Riot played a gig with Journey in the '70's during the RR/Kelly G era of the band... not sure of the Journey lineup at the time.

Hmm, I never saw that listed in the Quiet Riot concert archives list. Biggest bands I saw them play with back then were Van Halen (pre-breakout) and Angel. Then again, I don't see the show they are said to have played with Black Oak Arkansas listed either, so I'd say the list is incomplete. I've seen plenty of flyers of Van Halen playing with Journey though way back.

I'll go off topic and add another "6 degrees of Randy to Journey": Randy played with Ozzy Osbourne, Ozzy played with drummer Deen Castronova, Deen played with Neil Schon in Journey (and Hardline, Bad English, Soul Sirkus).

Hey Anthony, I was actually looking at Kelly's scrapbook DVD and there is a backstage pass from a Journey show. So I asked him about it and he confirmed that they did play with Journey.

The Black Oak Arkansas show is noted in the scrapbook as well with a flyer I believe, but they are listed as just 'Black Oak' so it would have been '77 or '78... Shawn Lane joined them as Black Oak in '78, I wonder if he was there for the show with Randy?
