Well, I've only ever joined two band fan clubs in my life (KISS and Metallica), but these fan club memberships being used as a way to get access to pre-sale tickets look like the wave of the future....

U2 is playing only 12 stadiums in the U.S. on this new tour, but one of them is less than a 4-hour drive from me, so I bit the bullet and bought a U2 Club membership today to get pre-sale ticket access. 8) I'll be spending October 19 with 100,000 of my closest friends at the University of Oklahoma's football stadium watching U2.

My wife and I have decided to bring our two daughters with us to the show -- when they're older they can be like those cool kids who were able to say their parents brought them to Woodstock, or the Rolling Stones, etc.

I haven't seen U2 live since the mid-80s when tickets were about $15 and you could get them easily on the "Unforgettable Fire" tour. How times have changed.....

Anyone else going to see U2 on this tour? *?

U2's first few albums were cool expecially the Joshua Tree, but that new song Get On Your Boots was really unimpressive to me. Interesting to see how the album sounds.

The single is actually the worst song on the new CD...

No it's about a massacre in Ireland on a Sunday.

Way too many good ones to list them all. Limiting it strictly to the last three albums, my favorites would be "Beautiful Day," "City of Blinding Lights," and "Walk On." 8)

Bloody Sunday was when the British army opened fire on a peaceful protest in Ireland, thats what the song is about.

U2 have some fantastic tunes, yeah. One is err..one of my favourites.

Got my tickets to see U2 in Oklahoma today using a pre-sale ticket code. They go on sale to the public Friday. We're 18 rows up from the field -- excellent seats. *r*

New CD is really good IMHO and I've followed them since the beginning. Standouts for me are tracks the first 4, 8 and 1o (I think) which means only a couple haven't reached out and grabbed me yet! Have to agree that "Boots" is the weakest on the project to me.

Well, last night was finally the U2 date at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium -- seems like ages ago that I bought the tickets. They put on a fantastic show -- I even liked the songs from the new album better live (they've totally remixed one of the new ones -- "Crazy Tonight" -- for the live shows and it sounds way better than the original).

They played about 2 hours and 20 minutes on the largest monstrosity of a stage I've ever experienced. Quite an event. It was not completely sold out, but attendance was estimated at about 60,000.

Here's the setlist:

1. Breathe
2. Get On Your Boots
3. Magnificent
4. Mysterious Ways
5. Beautiful Day / God Only Knows (snippet)
6. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For / Stand By Me (snippet)
7. Stuck In A Moment
8. No Line On The Horizon
9. Elevation
10. In A Little While
11. Unknown Caller
12. Until The End Of The World
13. The Unforgettable Fire
14. City Of Blinding Lights
15. Vertigo
16. Crazy Tonight / Thank You (For Lettin Me Be Myself) (snippet)
17. Sunday Bloody Sunday
18. MLK
19. Walk On / You'll Never Walk Alone (snippet)

Encores:
20. One / Amazing Grace (snippet)
21. Where The Streets Have No Name / All You Need Is Love (snippet)
22. Ultra Violet (Light My Way)
23. With Or Without You
24. Moment of Surrender

Here's a poor quality shot of the stage using my cell phone. We were 18 rows up from the field on Adam Clayton's side:
