I just couldn't get into the album at all. I don't wanna stop is a great track, but it just seemed a letdown overall for me.

Obviously Blizzard & Diary are classics. I love Jakes stuff - Bark & Ultimate Sin. Since them, most of the albums afterwards don't compare to me, with the exception of No Rest for the Wicked, which is awesome, & No More Tears. There's still some killer tracks on the others though, such as Perry Mason :)

But hey, it would be boring if we all agreed on the same thing!

Obviously the new one is not on par with the classic years in the early 80s, but I do like it better than his last offering, "Down to Earth." 8)

Here's 7 pages worth of commenst on "Black Rain" from the time they announced it through the first single through the album's release through the comments and reactions/opinions on it. I reviewed it track-by-track on pg. 6

The only one I like from Black Rain is "Not going away" other then that the rest of the songs are just o.k. It just lacks that Metal Crunch there are to many ballads on it for me.One is o.k but more then that mellows it out way to much.No disrespect to Oz or the band but make the next one with more Crunch.

If Ozzy growled like Barney from Napalm Death would you like it better?
Seriously....as an Ozzy fan for over 20 years, this is THE first album I've liked the entire album & not skipped songs. I know this is a Randy Rhoads board, HOWEVER, this is an Ozzy thread & no one will ever recreate or have the magic the first 2 records did....you CAN'T compare them.
Doesn't have the "metal crunch"? Are you kidding me? Maybe if Ozzy got Disturbed as his backup band you'd be happy?

Yes he has alot of skill but hes not the right guitarist for Ozzy, his metal songs just dont fit with Ozzy style. I think he should stick to southern rock, Pride & Glory was a great album.

I think fans of No Rest for the Wicked and No More Tears begs to differ. I even like Black Rain, and love Ozzmosis. Hell, even history begs to differ, with Zakk having to step in where Joe Holmes and even Steve Vai wouldn't. Zakk is Ozzy's style. He is in my book the perfect match.

Perfect? better than Randy? *0

I think Jake fits Ozzy's musical style more than Zakk

I wouldn't say Steve or Joe "wouldn't" step in. (Maybe "fit in" is a better descrpition)Steve's participation was nixed by the record company after some time writing material and Joe-after being part of the touring group for about 6-7 years and writing for "Down To Earth"-got axed because his style didn't fit what Ozzy and/or the label thought was best. They both-along with Alex Skolnick-wanted the gig, but higher powers deemed otherwise. After multiple auditions I think Ozzy just went back to his comfort zone with Zakk cause he already had a releationship with him and didn't want to go through the whole "new guitarist/new blood" scenario process after all. Only guitarist to really walk away from Ozzy by their own choice was Brad Gillis. (I'm not even counting Bernie cause he never really wanted to be there in the first place, nor was he into the Ozzy style of muisc)

Slow down there, junior. Why does it have to be a competition? Randy is not around anymore. How can he be the perfect fit for Ozzy?

I have said it before, and I'll say it again - stop living in the past.

No I thought you meant overall Zakk was Ozzy's best guitarist.
But if your taking people alive I would much rather have Jake or even Gillis than Zakk.
