Yeah I know what you're talking about! On the radio interview from 7/24/81 he talks about that exactly as you were saying. I think Paul would be great with Ozzy, but I don't think this would happen.

It Doesnt seem like Ozzy is getting a new guitar player by the post on Zakks Twitter:

"Hey Berserkers, everything is great with Ozzy/Dad. See you at the Blizzcon convention in Anaheim August 22nd or before with BLS"

So im guessing Zakk is sticking around *?

No offense Kevin, but i personally hope he doesn't get the gig.

i mean i don't really listen to his music or anything, but i really wanna see another "unknown kid" get their chance for fame. Ozzy has always done this for his studio albums (okay, well he's done this 3 times at least lol) , and as far as i can tell it's always worked.

i'm not saying it should be me or anything (i'm not even gonna bother trying out) i just think he should find a nice, unknown guitarist with skills and use them.

just my opinion though

He really should get Jakey back (haha jakey ) it would be cool to see how he has improved since his early 80s time with Ozzy I mean what that's like at least 20 years ago?? Hes got to be like amazing now. *r*

yeah. there is some great guitar on the album. but overall it sounds like ozzys most pop album by far. and isnt the killer of giants riff kind of copying crazy train a little?

Been seeing a lot of names thrown around for a possible job with Ozzy. I'll throw in my .02 cents on some, plus more. I'm sure more names will come to mind, but for now I'll start with the Classes of 1982 and 1983.

Gary Moore-Nope. First off, he’s still got the blues and second, he and Ozzy could never write an Ozzy-sounding album together, much less deal with each other's egos.

Michael Schenker-Nope. Style doesn’t fit though he is phenomenal. Also he has been very unreliable over the last few years as far as touring. Plus, I don’t think Ozzy would dig his guitar player wearing a backwards baseball cap onstage all the time. I like him working better with Gary Barden again better.

George Lynch-Hmmm…nah. Great as he is/was, I don’t think his style fits either or he’d be faking it. Another negative is he wouldn’t be in charge of the band and that wouldn’t work for him at this point in his career I don’t think. Plus I think he’d be too frustrated having to play “Bark At The Moon” every night cause Jake kind out took the job right out from under him at the last second.

Carlos Cavazo-Nope. Carlos is a good guitarist, but I don’t think he is right for this one. Hell, he had a hard enough time with getting compared to Randy after he came after him in Quiet Riot; imagine what this would be like.

Bernie Torme-Nope. 8 gigs were enough.

Brad Gillis-Nope. As in 1982, Ozzy music isn’t his cup of tea, though he gave a great shot at it.

John Sykes-Don’t think so, though his chops are way better now than they were in 1982. However, Sykes is currently available as he just quit Thin Lizzy, but I don’t see a heavy Ozzy album coming from a guy that just spent the last 10 years or so singing “The Boys Are Back In Town”.

Jake E. Lee-Never happen. First off, Jake can’t stand Ozzy and I’m sure the feeling is mutual, but more importantly, I doubt Jake plays at the standard he did back in 1992 anymore, much less 1986 as he hasn’t been recording or touring in many years. (Guest appearances cover albums and tribute albums don’t count) Also have heard his eye sight is getting worse.

Alex Skolnick-I doubt it would even be considered as he is very much back in the Testament recording/touring cycle, plus his own side stuff.

Joe Holmes-As always mentioned, as great at playing the Randy, Jake and Zakk stuff as he was, his songwriting skills never measured up.

Kerry King-Never. The guy couldn’t play a Randy or Zakk solo then or now.

Marty Friedman-Nah. He's too into his Japaneese pop music phase at this point in his life and honestly I don't think he'd have any desire to try out for the gig.

Michael Angelo Batio-Hmmmm….might he interesting. No doubt in my mind that he can play the Randy, Jake and Zakk stuff to the note (plus some). However, he might be too technical for Ozzy. But then again, Joe Satriani kind of dummied it down for Chickenfoot, so it’s still a possibility. Don’t think he’s dark sounding enough on a regular basis though. He might be TOO well-rounded for the position.

Dario Lorina-I think so. Young and bad-ass on the guitar, plus he has the look and stage presence to do the job. Bonus is he is a big Randy fan to boot!

Doug Aldrich-I think so. He’s played for a lot of bands and I doubt David Coverdale would let him go from Whitesnake, but I think Doug could fit in with Ozzy too. He’s kicking ass harder than ever after all these years.

Anyone know if Des is trying again?
With how close he got last time it'd be a shame for him not to try this time round!

Pretty much agree with Iron's sentiments above about the guitarists being talked about, I think Doug Aldrich would be fantastic in the Ozzy gig. He absolutely *smokes*.

I went into a Whitesnake gig thinking "Meh, it won't be John Sykes" and came out thinking "..Wow, that was Doug Aldrich!"

his style would never fit with Ozzy's i think hes an instrumentalist anyway. And imagine the lauguage problems between him and Ozz, him being from france and all.

I really like that Dario Lorina guy you said iron! ive never heard of him before but looked him up and hes really good. alot of the things on youtube sound the same but his demo sounds pretty good. He looks kinda funny sometimes though.
